United MileagePlus guide
United Airlines · MileagePlus miles · Star Alliance
United MileagePlus miles are earned in Canada on the United MileagePlus Neo World Elite Mastercard and can be used on United and Star Alliance partners.
How it works
MileagePlus is United's loyalty programme. United describes itself as a member of Star Alliance.
Earning
In Canada the United MileagePlus Neo World Elite Mastercard earns miles directly (1.25 on United and Star Alliance flights, 1 on dining and groceries, 0.75 elsewhere). Marriott Bonvoy points can also be transferred at 3 to 1.
Using rewards
Redeem miles for United and partner flights under the programme rules; award routing on partners is set by each partner.
Partners
Partner offers and awards follow each partner's own terms, as set out in the MileagePlus Rules.
Expiry
The MileagePlus Rules say mileage stays in the account until redeemed or forfeited for reasons such as account closure or a breach of the rules; no time-based expiry rule is listed in the section reviewed.
Before you book
Miles transferred or earned through a card are still subject to the MileagePlus Rules and can be changed by United.
